Some might call me an artist, but I think of myself as a maker and creative problem solver. Despite that, making art has been a consistent part of my life since I was a teen. I minored in studio art in college, I’ve built art for that event in the dessert, and I add an artistic touch to everything I do. I tend to work in strange mediums, often incorporating found objects into my art. Over the years I’ve noticed a pattern in my artistic endeavors where I start with an idea, make one or two interesting pieces, and just as I start to get comfortable with the materials and techniques, I get bored and move on to something else. As a result, I am a jack of all mediums and a master of none.
In addition to making art, I also have a passion for experiencing it. As a ten year BRC participant and volunteer, I’ve encountered some of the best art in the world. As a world traveler who often plans trips around artistic experiences, I’ve bonded with people, places, and cultures through art. I’m particularly drawn toward public art, and more recently, street art. I feel like the democratization of art, and transforming our public spaces into outdoor galleries, is the art movement of our time.
When not making art, I’m advocating for it. I volunteer with my city's art organizations and have served stints on several boards and committees. I continue to fight tirelessly to bring more public art to my community, to encourage conversation through the arts, and to support artists, particularly local ones.
